Mauricio Szuchmacher, MD, FACS

Mauricio Szuchmacher, MD, FACS, is a board-certified surgeon who’s been caring for patients at Suffolk Vascular & Vein Center since 2015. The practice serves patients at their three offices conveniently located in Port Jefferson Station, Hauppauge, and Riverhead, New York.

Dr. Szuchmacher earned his medical degree from the Gama Filho University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He stayed in Rio de Janeiro for further training, finishing a general residency at Hospital Getúlio Vargas, a vascular surgery fellowship at the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, and achieving his board certifications in both general and vascular surgery.

Upon coming to the United States, Dr. Szuchmacher completed a residency in general surgery at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He also did a fellowship in vascular surgery at Northwell Health’s Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Manhasset, New York, and earned his board certification from the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Szuchmacher is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the International Society for Vascular Surgery, the International Society of Endovascular Specialists, the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care, the Brazilian College of Surgeons, and the Brazilian Society of Angiology and Vascular Surgery.

In his practice, Dr. Szuchmacher focuses on all areas of vascular surgery and a range of endovascular procedures. He’s highly skilled in carotid artery surgery, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, leg bypass surgeries, vein ablation, and dialysis access procedures.

He enjoys caring for patients of all different backgrounds and is fluent in Portuguese, English, Hebrew, and Spanish.
