Your Dialysis Treatment Options

If you are experiencing kidney failure, you may choose dialysis to treat it. We will oversee your dialysis treatments from start to finish. Our vascular surgeons use two types of minor surgical procedures to increase blood flow: grafts and fistulas.

Dialysis Fistula

A dialysis fistula is used to create an access portal under the skin that joins an artery and vein to increase blood flow.

Dialysis Graft

Or, a graft can be used; this plastic tube is inserted by a surgeon to connect an artery or vein. By increasing blood flow, your vein is stretched and strengthened.

We're Here to Help You Through the Dialysis Treatment Process

If you choose to start dialysis, it’s about more than just getting the necessary treatments at the doctor’s office; it’s a lifestyle change. Our physicians will talk to you about choices that will help you get the most from the treatments, including the following:
  • Watch your fluid, protein, and salt intake.
  • Exercise regularly to improve your energy levels.
  • About alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs.
  • Consult with your doctor about taking prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Let our vascular surgeons handle your dialysis treatment from beginning to end.
